When Mania styles broaden

Style exhaustion fallback prefers fresh strict matches, then weaker evidence and other eligible native styles.

Availability Mania 4K and 7K when enabled
Documentation status Single-style fallback works now; combined-style policy requires v6.6.22+
Behavior reference Through v6.7.20 plus current operator durations · reviewed 2026-10-05; check active room version

Small style pools can run out of fresh choices. The requested style remains preferred, but the bot can use weaker matches and then other native styles to avoid recent repeats or maps already reserved in the queue.

Fallback softens structural or farm evidence only. The active difficulty, length, pass-count and age filters still apply, and native 4K/7K boundaries remain in place. Farm confidence floors are retained. Converts are currently limited to Variety.

The implementation avoids the last ten played or skipped rounds. For Farm, stronger eligible fresh charts are consumed before weaker evidence and other-style fallback. This preserves a usable room without claiming every fallback chart is a strict match.

Several styles at once (v6.6.22+)

For a request such as .style jack chordjack ln, fresh charts matching all three tags come first. After those are used, charts with two requested tags beat charts with only one. Within the same tier, fewer unrelated tags win. For .style stream|chordjack, a clean Stream-only or Chordjack-only chart is preferred over a chart tagged Stream, LN and Jack when no fresh chart has both requested tags. Unlike the single-style fallback above, combined requests stay within maps matching at least one requested style; unrelated maps are not added simply to fill the pool. If all eligible matches have been played recently, the oldest available match may repeat.

Starting with v6.6.22, Mania fallback is not announced in lobby chat and the existing structural/Farm selections do not expose a fallback label in .pool. From v6.7.6, single Rice/Noodle selections can show (relaxed) in their pool label. Use .style and .queue to see the preference and visible maps. Check Live lobbies for the active room version.

Rice and Noodle boundaries in v6.7.6

Rice and Noodle introduce bounded composition fallback, not a fallback to arbitrary other styles. Strict fresh matches precede weaker qualifying evidence. Rice still limits holds and streams; Noodle still requires a majority of hold objects and meaningful held time. Missing or invalid evidence fails closed.

Rice's composition stays mandatory even when .style rice jack relaxes its Jack preference. Rice+Noodle is rejected. The last ten actual played/skipped rounds, queued reservations and runtime exclusions still govern freshness. Existing difficulty, duration, pass-count, age and native key-mode filters are not relaxed. In v6.7.6, both Rice and Noodle remain bounded composition pools; v6.7.7 adds the explicit Noodle exception below.

Current Noodle to LN fallback (v6.7.15+)

Fresh strict Noodle, then bounded relaxed Noodle, then classified native LN are the active tiers. Stream-only charts are no longer the Noodle fallback. Other requested patterns remain preferred within tiers; all hard room filters and native keys remain. Only exhaustion of both fresh Noodle and LN pools permits an oldest eligible repeat. The preference stays Noodle, the visible queue stays intact, and .pool can show (LN fallback). See the correction.

Historical Noodle to Stream in v6.7.7–v6.7.14

The following describes the older tier, superseded by native LN in v6.7.15. Once fresh strict and bounded relaxed Noodle choices are exhausted, the bot uses fresh, strictly classified native Stream maps rather than repeat a recent Noodle chart. Applies to .noodle, .noodles, .style noodle and Noodle combinations. Other requested patterns remain preferred within tiers but can broaden. Noodle's hold boundary is waived only for this explicit Stream tier; arbitrary other styles or converts are not admitted.

The preference remains Noodle, so fresh hold-heavy choices regain priority when available. .pool identifies (stream fallback) while that tier is active; fallback stays quiet in chat and visible queue entries stay in place. Only when neither eligible Noodle nor Stream has a fresh choice can the oldest available recent map repeat. If neither pool exists at selection time, the previous preference is kept. Rice and Jump behavior is unchanged. See initial Stream fallback availability.

Standard Jump has a separate strict-to-bounded spatial-evidence fallback, also retaining hard room filters and recent-round avoidance. Jump does not use Mania styles or Farm score as its definition.

Use .pool, .style, and .queue to understand the current selection. See v6.6.14 and v6.6.15.

Before v6.6.22, the bot may announce when even fallback cannot avoid a recent repeat. From v6.6.22 onward, that choice is silent. Unavailable maps, other key modes, and converts are not admitted as style fallback. This is distinct from the separate sparse catalog expansion policy.

Worked example

The duration feature from v6.7.8 acts inside the current strong/strict or fallback tier. The current normal operator preference is 90–135 seconds, with shorter picks and maps up to the 240-second cap still possible. Mania Farm and Rice/Noodle keep strongest-evidence priorities. From v6.7.20, Standard Jump instead uses weighted variety within its current tier and its own under-90-second preference; Standard Farm uses feedback-weighted draws from a FarmScore-ranked catalog. Soft duration preference does not advance weaker-style fallback or exceed the cap.

A fresh non-Jack map after a Jack preference can be a fallback if strict fresh choices are exhausted. Check the queue and current map details; from v6.6.22 onward there is no exhaustion notice.

The v6.7.17 successful-clear boost changes draw weights inside eligible tiers only. It does not advance weaker-style fallback or bypass freshness. Each reached candidate tier supplies its own pass-count reference.

Limitations

The active eligibility filters and native key boundaries remain. Converts are not style fallback; an exhausted entire eligible catalog can require the oldest available repeat.
